Terrazzo — Rhythm and Visual Punctuation
Rhythm · Fragments · Contemporary

Terrazzo language comes from the relationship between fragments and the background that holds them. Aggregate scale, density, colour and contrast determine whether a surface reads as a quiet field or a distinct point of emphasis.
Read the pattern at distance
A small sample can exaggerate individual fragments. Step back and assess the overall rhythm at the intended viewing distance, then compare it with the scale of the room and the other finishes.
Use contrast deliberately
A restrained palette can create a contemporary composition without becoming playful or nostalgic. Stronger colour and larger fragments require a different balance of furniture, lighting and adjacent materials.
Confirm material and specification
A terrazzo-look tile, a cement-based terrazzo and a resin-based terrazzo are not interchangeable products. Establish the actual material, finish, format and technical requirements before specification; appearance alone is insufficient.
